So Very Merry Watercolor Christmas Card
For the month of July, we're helping you get a head start on this year's Christmas cards with our Christmas in July Card a Day Challenge!
Every day of the month, we have a new challenge for you. Be sure to follow along on our Facebook or Instagram to participate in the challenge! Tag us in your pictures or post in our Exclusive Stamping Before Anything Else Facebook group so we can see your take on the challenge.
Today is the 24th day of the month, aka we're 5 months away from Christmas Eve! For today's challenge, you'll want to create a card using a watercolor technique.
For this card, we used Real Card Cardstock for the cardbase and followed the score lines below. Then, we added the new online exclusive One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper to the front of the card. For the image of Santa, we used the So Very Merry Stamp Set (which is also a new online exclusive through Stampin' Up!) and stamped it in VersaMark on Watercolor paper. We added some Gold Embossing Powder to the stamped image and heated it with our heat tool. Now here is where the water coloring technique comes in. On one of our stamping blocks, we added some ink (we used Lost Lagoon, Real Red, and Petal Pink) to the block and using an Aqua Painter, we picked up some of the ink with the water of the brush. We then added the ink to the card with the Aqua Painter; be sure to watch the video below with more detailed step-by-step directions. Next, we punched the circle out and adhered it to the front of the card. To embellish the card, we used the Gilded Gems and the new Real Red & Gold 3/8" Dotted Ribbon.
